Welcome home to Suria Hill Country House |
Looking like a posh private bungalow, Suria Hill Country House stands out from the other kampung-style resorts in the area, writes ZALINA MOHD SOM.
SURIA Hill Country House is not your typical hotel or resort. While its counterparts in quaint Kampung Janda Baik in Pahang take on the look and ambience of typical kampung-style resorts and chalets, Suria sets itself apart as a private homestead.
If you miss the signboard, you will just drive past Suria, thinking that it is just another big, posh bungalow, like the many that have mushroomed in the village.
The high concrete fence makes it look even more like a private bungalow built as a second home for the rich-and-famous who, attracted by the cold weather and proximity to the city, come here for a back-to-nature retreat.
Meeting venue at Suria Hill Country House |
Neither a private bungalow nor a resort, Suria Hill Country House is positioned as “a home where guests go for their break”.
The 16-room mansion is a modern interpretation of traditional Malay architecture. Traces of Malay architectural designs and details are obvious.
Inside, the three-storey house is homely and cosy, making it an intimate venue for corporate firms or families.
The reception looks very much like a living room with a huge flat-screen TV in front of a Persian carpet, a teak settee and a console table.
Dining is a family affair as home-cooked food is served at the gazebo-styled Bunga Padi Restaurant. Just peep into the kitchen and you will see that it is no different than the ones you find in many homes.
Chefs from its other properties will only be deployed to prepare food when Suria Hill Country House runs at full-house, usually during corporate meetings and seminars.
Other properties under the Suria Hotels & Resorts are Suria Cherating Beach Resort in Pahang, Merang Suria Resort & Merang Suria Holiday Camp in Terengganu, Suria City Hotel Johor Bahru in Johor and The Royal Cambridge Hotel in London, UK.
